The Magical Tree

Ada Taylor

Once I was in bed and it was very dark, there was a noise at my window.  It woke me up so I looked at my window and saw some wind, and behind the wind there was a tree.  It had lots of leaves.

It looked great and I saw little elves around it.  It had fairy dust all around it, it was an amazing tree.  But I never saw it before, how did it get there?  But then I just went back to sleep.

I dreamt about meeting the little elves and how nice it would be if they let me play with them, and I could tag or croquet or we could make up  a game.  That would be great, but I wanted to stop thinking about it because it was very nearly dawn and I was very tired.  YAWN.  Sorry I yawned, see I was very tired, I needed to go to sleep.

But then I heard a knock at the door.  I said, "Who is that a this time of night?"  Then I came out of bed and went to the door.  It was an elf from the tree, he was saying, "Will you be my friend?" And I said, "Yes, wait, no I can't."

"But I have gone all around the world and every house and nobody has said yes.  We can play Ogee-ogee."

"What is Ogee-ogee?"

But he left, but then I said, "Wait, where did you come from?"

"My tree."

"But I know you live in your tree, but where do you come from?"

"Elf Land."

"What is Elf Land?"

(Never talk about Elf Land)

"I need to go."

Then he went to his tree and left and I went back to sleep.  And I did not think about it that night, until the tree came again and the elf knocked on the door and my mum and dad and my brother Tim and I heard them talking.

But I just did not say a word and I stayed sleeping, having a nightmare about an elf punching me in the head.  It did not hurt because it was just a nightmare.  And then it was dawn and I heard a cockerel because I live on a farm and I have pigs.  Oh, I need to be talking about this day, back to the story.  And then I saw a map at the door.

It took me a long time to work out what it was about, but then I knew what it was about.  It was about where the magic tree had gone and there was a big dot and I think it is where it is now.

And I waited 2 years and then I could drive.  So I had the map in my hand and I drove to the house that had the big dot on the map, and then I drove and drove.

And then I finally got there and we met all of the elves and I was great friends and I played Ogee-ogee.

The End.
